I don’t usually wear such oriental outfits on normal days. I took advantage of the two weeks of Chinese New Year to wear this cheongsam again, but this time to work. Guess no one will question why are you in such an outfit amidst the festivities.

I kept the look much simpler.

Just a skinny belt and clean-cut pair of ankle cuff heels.

I love how a change in footwear changes the vibe and character of the whole outfit.

Sometimes late by a couple of weeks, sometimes months…

This is one of the ones which are taken more recently, about a month or so back.

I wore this outfit on Valentine’s day for that little fuzzy warm feeling with my grey cardigan on a cooling morning.

I wore a red skirt for that added pop of colour from the pastels of the tops.

Paired the outfit with black accessories like shoes and bag and kept the rest of the look pink and red with gold accents.

I didn’t have any plans to celebrate Valentine’s day with Beebops on that day itself as we were not that keen on joining the crowd in being coerced into set meals and possibly long queues stand in before getting our dinner.

He, however, planned to have a nice dinner somewhere else to celebrate our monthiversary instead.

I bought this skirt some time back and have not gotten the chance to wear it and finally wore it on this second day of chinese new year.

The skirt is made of full sequins in small squares and was a little heavier than normal skirts and it had a slight metallic sound when I walked, a little like wearing a mesh netting around.

Since the skirt already had the details and sheen, I opted for a simple dark blue camisole top and an ethnic inspired necklace to match.

Albeit a little late but I would like to wish my readers a wonderful snake year, blessed with abundance!

I wore this outfit on the first day of Chinese New Year, taking a bit of risk of running into someone with the same outfit as it was from one of the handful of dresses from the oriental collection of LoveBonito.

It would be really awkward to bump into someone in the same dress and styled probably with a safe pair of black heels and we would both look like we work in a fusion Chinese restaurant.

The cheongsam dress has a regular chinese collar sleeveless top but with a bit of a bubble pleated skirt and a layer of tulle underneath it to keep the puffiness of the skirt.

The cutting of the skirt brought out the fun and interesting side of this dress which in turn inspired me to pair it with a pair of sneakers instead.

Beebops gave me the frown when he saw my pairing and asked “Why you have Reebok Pumps?”

Heehee when was the last time you heard that name? I think it dates back to primary school!

I couldn’t help but feel bouncy and sporty in these pair of sneakers and wanted to do a jump shot with them.

But it wasn’t easy!

Which probably made me feel less than enthusiastic about the longer holiday break that we would be having.

Especially so when you just know what relatives will be asking you when they see you. *roll eyes* Can they get more creative seriously? I can go on forever on this topic but I shall not bore myself  with all these meaningless conversations.

Don’t worry! Chinese New Year is never bad when gathered with my parents, closer relatives & friends!

This year, I have an added responsibility of ensuring that besides my bedroom in my parent’s place was in a neat and orderly manner, my own place had to be spic and span too! Both me and Beebops were doing manic cleaning just the couple of days before Chinese New Year and were doing some housekeeping even till late at night. *_*”

On the first day of Chinese New Year, we would all gather at my granny’s place for dinner where she would cook up a feast for the whole family of about 30 people.

Not only does it taste amazing, it looks absolutely professional in presentation.

There was also a gathering at my parent’s place with a pair of lion to bring luck and ward away evil in the house.

The Lunar New Year is also known as the Spring Festival, 春节， to the Chinese as it marks the beginning of a new year and where flowers start to bloom and life starts anew.

My top, which I have since my University days, is a wrap linen top with cherry blossom designs in red. A little Chinese, a little Japanese vibe. I paired it with a simple pencil skirt and kept the look simple with everything else in black to complement the black trimmings of the top.

Well I actually would much prefer snow over everything else but I can never get that here in Singapore!

So the next best substitute to a cool and comfy weather would be a rainy day. Typically the weather starts to cool in November and December would be soaking with lots of torrential rain in the afternoons.

That would mark the beginning of days of cardigan, jackets and any other outwear that you can think of!

It does however take a bit of effort to dress up and get out of the house in such a wonderful weather.

Armed with a huge umbrella and platform rubber shoes, I am ready to head out in a wet day.

On one wet and cold Saturday, I met up with Min for a last minute dinner as I was craving for a warming steamboat dinner at Coca Restaurant.

What better way to spend the wet day indoors in the comfort of a hot pot filled with delicious food!

Our pot looks extremely healthy with all the vege and mushroom choices but it is just the deceiving first batch of food we put into the pot. Thereafter, we were just busy chatting and munching to take pic of our food.

We finished our dinner feeling nice and full and decided to walk around to aid digestion.

But not too long later, we found ourselves in another food joint!

Dessert time at Xin Wang Cafe which was open till late…

I am surprised by how much we ate that day as it has been a long time since we had such a huge appetite.

It might have been the great weather but most probably it is the great company!

This accordion skirt is the lower half of the skirt I wore in this post. It was a long skirt which Beebops bought when he went on this bike trip in Chiangmai and I felt that a long skirt with such designs were less versatile and wearable on a normal basis, I got it altered into two short skirts. As the design of the skirt was not uniform throughout, I ended up having two similar looking skirt, one longer than the other.

 Stepping out of the car, you will be welcomed with the scent of dewy green grass and immediately I feel relaxed and just plain happy.

The White Rabbit restaurant operates in tastefully restored old chapel with high ceilings and huge stained glass windows.

We were led to our table where we spent the next 10 mins soaking up the atmosphere and appreciating the details of the place. The place was done up with a lot of the chapel’s element kept in tact and incorporating some other fixtures that made the space functional as a restaurant.

I ordered my usual caffeine and my usual brunch choice, Eggs Benedict.

And Beebops ordered the Fettucine alla Carbonara.

The food proved to be a little disappointing after much excitement about the location.

The Hollandaise sauce on my eggs benny was a bland and the Carbonara was a little too salty. A pity.

The bill came up to more than $70 for our brunch of Carbonara, Cappuccino & Eggs Benedict.

The back door of The White Rabbit opened to a garden area with a rustic charm.

With one odd cable car carriage in the middle of the garden.

Amidst overgrown bushes of sculptured bushes.

Which looked like a brontosaurus

Taking a ride from side to side….

Before feeling a little bit of motion sickness…..

And off the swing, making our way back through the arcs of the bamboo walkway…

It was a lovely brunch location and losing track of time wandering around the small garden behind The White Rabbit.

If only we had more reason to return to this untouched garden.

This time I wore it to work.

I don’t think that the leather skirt is most formal of skirts and in order to keep it simple and serious for the work place, I stuck with the fool proof combi of black and white.

The monochromatic theme pull the corporate look together while allowing the textures and details  in the outfit bring out the character in this outfit.

A little girly with the bow tie top, a little punk with the studded hemline, a little tough with the leather skirt.

All these things add up to a big part of me!
